Three Wise Monkeys, known in Japanese as Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru. Otherwise known as “See No Evil”, “Hear No Evil and “Speak No Evil”. Of course, these metaphorical monkeys don’t really exist – they are representations of the guiding principle espoused by philosophers of ancient Asian civilizations. Sadly, a principle rarely followed.
These paintings are Mai’s interpretation of the guiding principle. Through them, Mai hopes to espouse harmony and to remind us to seek inner peace in our lives.
The series consists of 30 small sized paintings and is sold in its entirety. The collection is especially suitable for a large wall and the paintings could be hung in a 5 by 6 configuration. Alternatively, if no large wall space is available, a 3 by 4 configuration could be adopted and the paintings rotated.
